New figures released on Wednesday show a strong year-on-year increase in China's exports, even better than forecasted before.

According to Chinese customs data, China's exports increased 45.7 percent to reach 94.5 billion dollars in February from a year earlier — fastest pace in three years.

China's imports also rose 44.7 percent last month as a sign of robust recovery in the world's third-largest economy. Analysts believe the strong figures were better than expectations.

Zhu Jianfang, chief economist at Citic Securities in Beijing, told Financial Times that the strong data show that "exports are recovering strongly and this trend is likely to continue.”

“Rising imports show domestic demand is also very strong," he added.

China says its trade surplus reached 7.61 billion dollars in February — up 57.2 percent from the same time last year.
