S Korea F-5 crash kills two pilots

A South Korean fighter jet has crashed into the country's west coast waters following a routine training mission, killing two onboard pilots.

Early Friday the F-5 jet went down in the west coastal waters on its way to an airbase in the eastern coastal city of Gangneung about 147 miles (237 Km) east of Seoul.

South Koreas Air Force officials discovered the bodies of the missing pilots following a search by a rescue helicopter.

One of the pilots was found knotted in a parachute partly opened showing his effort to eject, Yonhap news agency reported.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

In a similar incident in March, three South Koraen pilots lost their lives after two F-5 jets crashed in the mountains after leaving the same airbase.
